Spotlight Protocol
Project Background
Spotlight Protocol is the first ꧁IP-backed꧂ memecoin launchpad powered by Story Protocol. Before the full product launch, the team needed a fast and lightweight way to onboard early adopters during the Story Protocol Odyssey testnet. The goal was to connect users’ wallets and X (Twitter) accounts, encourage social sharing, and give them a preview of the upcoming Spotlight IP system.
Role & Scope
-
Role: Visual & UI Designer
-
Collaboration: Product Manager, Engineers
-
Deliverables:
-
Landing Page – A one-pager for early onboarding with wallet connection, social sharing, and tiered Spotlight cards.
-
Product Page – Core UI/UX for Spotlight IP creation, discovery, and visualization, plus supporting components for future token features.
-

Landing Page
Goal
Build a simple and shareable entry point to welcome early adopters into Story Protocol’s testnet — offering them a first taste of the product while kickstarting community engagement.
Problem
Before the full product was ready, the team needed a fast, lightweight way to onboard users, something smoother than a full site or app, yet still strong in brand identity, social reach, and user motivation to participate. The challenges included:
-
Ensuring Web3 wallet connection was seamless for first-time users
-
Building excitement and legitimacy without full product context
-
Encouraging social sharing in a low-effort, high-reward way

Solution
We designed a clean, responsive landing page that streamlines onboarding by focusing on three key actions: wallet connection, X (Twitter) binding, and social sharing. This flow enabled users to mint a personalized Spotlight card, giving them an early glimpse of Story Protocol’s vision.
Despite the absence of a full product, the card's tiered system and embedded social incentives sparked viral engagement, helping the team validate user interest and grow community traction ahead of launch.

Design Highlights
-
Tiered Spotlight Card – Visual progression from basic to personalized cards
-
Step-by-Step Module – Expandable sections for each action to reduce cognitive load
-
Feature Previews – Teasers for upcoming Spotlight IP functions

Product Page
Goal
Introduce Spotlight Protocol as a clear and engaging entry point for IP creators to grow their visibility, build their brand, and connect with audiences. The product needed to translate the concept of IP-backed memecoins, which was a new idea for most users, into an intuitive and visually driven experience that sparks participation and social sharing from day one.
Problem
The concept of IP-backed memecoins was unfamiliar to most potential users, creating a high entry barrier. Without clear guidance or a relatable visual framework, the idea risked feeling abstract and difficult to navigate. The challenge was to design an experience that simplified the journey, built user confidence, and encouraged immediate participation and sharing.

Solution
Created the early product experience for the Spotlight IP system, focusing on making a new and potentially abstract concept feel simple, actionable, and engaging. The design guided users from their first interaction through to meaningful participation, while laying a scalable foundation for upcoming product features.

Design Highlight
-
IP System Visualization – Influences shown via bubble size & glow
-
Core User Flow – Defined user journeys for creating a new IP, joining an existing IP, and viewing IP details
-
Onboarding modal – Guide first-time users to explore, connect wallet and claim their badge
-
Future Extension – Early layouts for token creation and buy/sell pages
